Writing in Real Life

"Writing In Real Life is here for the writer who struggles, the writer who makes mistakes and the writer who is passionately committed to writing regardless of acknowledgment, reward or honors. I have been on four shows, but the majority of my writing has been for my own self-growth and entertainment. My goal is to tell the truth about my writing path so that others may learn from it, grow from it and maybe get more juice for their own creative endeavors."

BLACK LIVES MATTER CHALLENGE

During this time of upheaval, some of us can get lost in the pain and irrational chaos. The brutality feels too overwhelming to engage with. Who are we to speak up and support racial equality if we aren’t of color? But every person standing for equal rights and liberties helps. You can make a difference by putting your thoughts, feelings and recognition of injustice into your film, TV pilot or webseries. You can make a difference by including different races in your scripts. You can make a difference by paying attention to the stories of people around you and including some part of their stories. So, this month, I challenge you. How can you turn this turbulence into change? How can you include what you are seeing and experiencing in your own writing? It doesn’t have to be a pandemic or a riot. It could be an angry character out for revenge or a devastated character trying to get up again. The artists are the creators of the future. Let’s get to work…
